- Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Building and Civil Trade (e.g. Bricklaying or Tilling or Drywalling).
- Experience: Grade A: No experience required.
- Grade B: At least 18 years appropriate/recognizable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate.
- Grade C: At least 34 years appropriate/recognizable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate.
- Inherent requirements of the job: A valid vehicle driver’s license.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Sound knowledge of maintenance and repair of buildings and related infrastructure.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and maintenance requirements.

- Ability to compile basic specifications, reports, and maintenance records.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and coordinate maintenance projects.

Role information
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide maintenance, repair, and installation services for buildings, civil infrastructure, and related equipment under the control of the Building and Civil Engineering Division.
- Inspect, diagnose, and rectify faults within the scope of the relevant trade.
- Assist with planning and execution of building maintenance projects and minor capital works.
- Manage and monitor contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Liaise with Engineering management, hospital departments, contractors, and suppliers regarding maintenance activities.
- Evaluate, investigate, and advise on the suitability, maintenance requirements, repair costs, and replacement of infrastructure and equipment.
- Complete and maintain job cards, maintenance records, reports, and other administrative documentation.
- Assist with the control of workshop tools, materials, consumables, and stock.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and departmental policies.
