  • Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SAPC as Pharmacist’s Assistant (Post-Basic) or Pharmacist’s Assistant (Post- Basic) (Institutional).
  • Experience: Grade 1: None after registration as with the SAPC as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post- Basic).
  • Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience after registration as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post- Basic) with the SAPC.
  • Grade 3: A minimum of 13 years’ relevant experience after registration as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) with the SAPC.
  • Inherent requirements of the job: A valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to function independently, as well as in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure good patient care.

  • Responsible for the effective control and provision of pharmaceutical products.
  • Responsible for the accurate compounding and manipulation of medicines or scheduled substances.
  • Responsible for the effective control and distribution of pharmaceutical stock to areas within the facility for stock replacement.
  • Responsible for data capturing, record keeping, statistics gathering, information provision and the daily running of the pharmacy department including dealing with queries on pharmacy matters.
  • Responsible for preparation of prescriptions and assist with the dispensing of medication for individual patient use under indirect supervision of a pharmacist as per the Pharmacy Act.

It will be expected of candidates to be available for selection interviews on a date, time and place as determined by the Department. Kindly note that excess personnel will receive preference.
